I was at school in Florida when I first learned about the option of midwife-attended homebirth. I was captivated. In 2002, I went to Birthwise Midwifery School in Bridgton, Maine. I completed a two year apprenticeship with several homebirth midwives in Chicago and spent time at two high volume birth centers, one in El Paso and the other in Senegal. I have attended over 150 births. I am IV, CPR and neonatal resuscitation certified, and I’ve been trained as a massage therapist. I am serving on the board for the California Association of Midwives. I received my national certification (CPM) and California license (LM) in the fall of 2006. Being a midwife is truly rewarding work. I am honored to be seeing women in their strength, families working together, and babies making their entrances.
